Since 2004, the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) has been at the forefront of collecting and analysing socio-economic and biomedical data from over 140,000 Europeans aged 50 and above. This project provides invaluable and internationally comparable longitudinal microdata that supports scientific research worldwide.
SHARE BERLIN Institute, founded by the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Center for Gerontology (DZA), is intended to serve as the central hub for coordinating SHARE and related research initiatives in Germany, giving the institute a permanent seat in Berlin.
We are now seeking a motivated individual to join our team in an international and academically stimulating environment. We are offering an interesting and varied role with the opportunity to make a significant impact.
Third-party funding officer (m/f/d)
full-time (39 hours per week), to start as soon as possible, initially limited until August 2027.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide administrative advice and support to scientific departments, particularly during the application process and budget planning, ensuring compliance with the guidelines of national and international funding bodies and adhering to relevant tax regulations.
- Oversee ongoing financial monitoring and contract management for projects, offering guidance on the appropriate use of funds in line with donor-specific allocation guidelines
- Review contracts and permits, and assist in drafting cooperation agreements
- Coordinate financial aspects of project networks
- Prepare and submit funding requests and usage reports, maintaining accurate and timely communication with funding bodies
- Compile and analyse documents and statistics for annual financial statements and for internal and external reporting purposes
- Prepare project reviews and collaborate with audit bodies
- Participate in the design and continuous improvement of IT-supported information systems, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the Institute
Your profile:
- A university degree in Business Administration or a related technical field, OR equivalent knowledge and experience
- A solid understanding of funding regulations and tax law
- Several years of professional experience in managing third-party funding, preferably in research and science
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English
- Confident handling of MS Office and ideally accounting software
- A structured and conscientious work style, with a strong affinity for numbers
- A proactive and service-oriented mindset, with a willingness to take responsibility and show a high degree of initiative
