The Estonian Institute for Population Studies (EDK) combines research and training in demography. The mission of the Institute is to monitor, analyse and project the existing and emerging trends that shape the demographic foundation of a society. The Institute also contributes to the development of a national system of population and social statistics, in cooperation with the Statistics Estonia and other institutions. EDK has been responsible for the Estonian participation in several comparative research projects on topics close to the themes related to family and fertility behaviour, intergenerational solidarity, behaviour patterns of immigrant population as European Family and Fertility Survey (FFS), Generations and Gender Survey (GGS), Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), and several projects in the framework of the European Population Committee, the Council of Europe. EDK has participated in the EC funded Network for Integrated European Population Studies (NIEPS), Central European Demographic Network (CEDN), and several FP5, FP6 and FP7 projects (DIALOG, FEMAGE, MULTILINKS, FAS). Since 2010, the Institute is a partner in the European Doctoral School of Demography and since 2012 the member of the Population Europe network. EDK is the member of Connected Health network in Estonia. >> Read more in English or >> in Estonian
