The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is an international panel study established in 2004 that collects socio-economic and biomedical life course data from people aged 50 and over (ap-prox.160,000 to date) in almost 30 countries. It provides internationally comparable longitudinal microdata for scientific research and policy advice. As Europe's largest social science panel study and one of the major European research infrastructures in the field of social sciences, SHARE also has the legal form of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) since 2011.

The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is the seat of the central coordination of SHARE and re-lated scientific research. The SBI was founded in 2022 by the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA).

We are now seeking a motivated individual to join our team in an international and academically stimulating environment. We are offering an interesting and varied job with the opportunity to make a significant impact as

Data Base Manager (f/m/d)

part time (20 hours per week), to start preferably from 01.04.2025, initially limited until 31.03.2026, as parental leave replacement. Option of full-time depending on the availability of funds.

Key responsibilities:

  • Processing and documentation of SHARE raw data
  • Data checks in close cooperation with the SHARE country teams
  • Mentoring, supporting and training of SHARE country teams
  • Writing of data processing and correction programmes in Stata
  • Data Documentation

Your profile:

  • University degree in social sciences, sociology, psychology, statistics, political science, economics, epidemiology, public health, demography, data science or a related field
  • Experience with longitudinal survey data
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical software, preferably Stata (or R, SAS, SPSS) and good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Strong proficiency in English required, good knowledge of German desirable, knowledge of other languages welcome
  • Self-organized & highly proactive working style, team player mentality
  • Interest in own research on substantive or methodological topics
