Ageing in Urban Areas

In Portugal, a project is under way that addresses ageing in urban areas in the context of contemporary urban trends and policy goals, analyses older people’s mobility patterns and how these issues affect their wellbeing. In the Portuguese urban areas of Aveiro, Faro and metropolitan Lisbon, the project will implement a sequence of three surveys, from which data on mobility of urban elders will be extracted. Here, SHARE data is used to characterize the target group in terms of sociodemographic data, life conditions, health, practices related to well-being as well as individual perceptions of the ageing process.[1]
