Support cutting-edge research with numbers, structure, and vision
The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is the German headquarters for the central coordination of the international survey project Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), the SHARE-European Research Infrastructure Consortium (SHARE-ERIC), and related scientific research activities.
Founded in 2022 by the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA), our non-profit organisation aims to advance pioneering interdisciplinary research that combines socio-economic and biomedical approaches with a European perspective.
The DFG-funded project SHARE Germany coordinates the German part of the SHARE survey (https://www.share-umfrage.de/) with a team of four researchers who, in addition to their work on the project's infrastructure, pursue their own substantive and methodological research topics in the context of SHARE.
About SHARE
Since 2004, SHARE has been a large-scale, interdisciplinary study investigating the effects of health, social, economic, and environmental policies on people’s lives across Europe and beyond. With over 160,000 respondents in 28 countries, SHARE is the largest panel study of its kind in Europe. Through the accredited SHARE Research Data Center (FDZ-SHARE), we provide internationally comparable socio-economic, and biomedical longitudinal microdata to more than 20,000 registered users worldwide for scientific research. Since 2011, SHARE has held the legal status of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC).
