Student assistant (f/m/d) for scientific dissemination

The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is an international panel study established in 2004 that collects socio-economic and biomedical life course data from people aged 50 and over (approx.160,000 to date) in 28 countries. It provides internationally comparable longitudinal microdata for scientific research and policy advice. As Europe's largest social science panel study and one of the major European research infrastructures in the field of social sciences, SHARE also has the legal form of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) since 2011.

The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is the seat of the central coordination of SHARE and related scientific research. The SBI was founded in 2022 by the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA).

We are now seeking a motivated individual to join our team in an international and academically stimulating environment. We are offering an interesting and varied role with the opportunity to make a significant impact. The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is looking for

Student Assistant (f/m/d)

to support the activities of the Research Data Centre and Communications team (15 hours per week), initially limited until August 2027.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the editorial and publication process of the First Results Book (Springer) and the SHARE Working Paper Series (inhouse) by:
    • Support in organization, creating and maintaining overview documents (e.g., lists of authors names and affiliations)
    • Checking tables and graphs, ensure consistency, formatting
    • Support for sending out print copies: address lists, print and pack relevant materials
  • Occasional literature review and gap analysis of SHARE-based publications in different thematic areas
  • Assist the communications unit with integrating new content on our websites (https://share-eric.eu/, https://share-berlin.eu/) and on our social media channels
  • Creating visuals to present research results in an engaging and accessible way
  • Event Support – Assisting in organizing conferences, workshops, and public lectures, including promotion, logistics, and participant coordination
  • Contributing to press contact lists
  • Supporting the unit with creation of PR materials

Your profile:

  • Ongoing Bachelor or Master Studies in Social Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, or a related field at a University, University of Applied Sciences, or a comparable institution
  • Ambitious, self-starting attitude with a strong drive for personal and professional growth
  • Strong command of the English language, German skills welcome but not necessary for the role
  • Ability to write clear, natural and engaging text yourself; a sharp eye for spotting generic, AI-sounding, or low-quality content
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to critically appraise social science literature
  • Self-organised and precise working style
  • Preferable: Experience in scientific dissemination and in working with content management systems (e.g. TYPO3, Wordpress)
  • Preferable: Basic design and multimedia knowledge (Adobe Suite experience)
