The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a panel study established in 2004 that collects socio-economic and biomedical life course data from people aged 50 and over (ap-prox.160,000 to date) in almost 30 countries. It provides internationally comparable longitudinal mi-crodata for scientific research and policy advice. As Europe's largest social science panel study and one of the major European research infrastructures in the field of social sciences, SHARE also has the legal form of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) since 2011.

The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is the seat of the central coordination of SHARE and re-lated scientific research. The SBI was founded in 2022 by the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA). The SBI and SHARE-ERIC work closely together on all questions of implementation and scientific advancement of the research infrastructure.

We are now seeking a motivated individual to join our team in an international and academically stimulating environment. We are offering an interesting and varied role with the opportunity to make a significant impact.

Project Finance Officer (f/m/d)

Part-time or full-time, minimum 25 hours per week, initially limited until 31 July 2027.

Key responsibilities:

  • Administrative and financial coordination of the EU projects of the SHARE-ERIC, including financial and contract controlling
  • Preparation of project budgets in close cooperation with the scientific departments and the country teams
  • Ensuring compliance with financial audit requirements
  • Provision of required project documentation and obtaining certificates on financial statements (CFS)
  • Project controlling and budget adjustments in case of project changes
  • Preparation and support during project audits, including cooperation with audit authorities
  • Financial risk assessment and control in procurement within SHARE-ERIC
  • Preparation and coordination of project financial reports in collaboration with partners
  • Provision of financial information for publications and PR materials

Your profile:

  • Degree in Business Administration or a comparable qualification with relevant experience
  • Professional experience in EU project management and grant administration
  • Solid knowledge of public funding regulations and tax law
  • Preferably several years of experience in managing administrative aspects of third-party funding
  • Strong communication skills and excellent command of German and English
  • Confident user of MS Office; experience with accounting software is an advantage
  • Structured, detail-oriented work style with a strong affinity for numbers
  • Service-oriented mindset, high level of initiative, and willingness to take responsibility
