Moreover, DG Empl has published a new edition of the “Pension Adequacy Report: Current and future income adequacy in old age in the EU” in 2021. It is the fourth edition of the report, prepared every 3 years by the Social Protection Committee and the European Commission. SHARE has already served as data basis in 2018 and has been used again in the newest edit. The report presents a comparative analysis of the degree to which pension systems in the EU member states enable older people to retire with an adequate income. At the same time, it reflects on pension reforms and current or future challenges in our societies. In doing so, it contributes to the policy debate on the purpose and direction of pension reforms. SHARE data provides the ground for country profiles in Volume 2 of the current report.
